WRAPPING UP/ CELEBRATING OUR SUPERHEROES
(Session 8)
Congratulations to you and your children for being able to identify the real challenge through the exciting stages of FEEL process.
In this session, children will do a self and peer assessment which will help them in building awareness of their learning curve and celebration the superpowers they have developed through the process and you will do the teacher assessment which will enable you identify the skills being developed in your children. As the video depicts, this will an amazing opportunity to celebrate the superpowers children have been able to develop through the Feel process. |
Why Self/Peer Assessment?
By providing the children an opportunity to look back on their growth, you can develop an ownership in them about their learning process and lead them to think of strategies on extending their growth.
Strategies to Facilitate the Session
- It will be a great way to start by celebrating the hard work and learning students have put in the process of working together. The celebration could be done through students sharing shout-outs about each other or a cheer.
- You can come up with different ways to lead kids to reflect. For instance, just asking them to sit in a circle; close their eyes and focus on their breath, stilling their mind is a great way to initiate the sharing process.
- Start by asking “Was there a point through the process where you were surprised by a classmate?” You can then do a rapidfire round of responses, telling the kids to ensure that once one student stops sharing, someone else should share immediately.
- Show the students different ways of giving positive feedback through a roleplay. You can either do a roleplay with another teacher or invite some students to do a roleplay with you. While doing the roleplay, you can show a good and bad way of feedback, one that is highly critical and other that elevates their peer.
- You can refer to Yes/And activity as an example of effective feedback.
- A sharing circle would be a good strategy as well. Allow children to share the changes they have seen in themselves and their classmates. This may not just be related to the Feel process but a more general sharing of self and their peers. You can also structure the sharing for different stages, for instance, first everyone can share what they learnt through cartography and then move to the next activities.
In the reflection sheet, children will reflect on various superpowers they have developed through the process, such as listening, awareness, critical thinking by first analyzing their growth and then going a step forward to seek the feedback of a peer on their growth.
Give the children time to mark themselves and seek feedback on their markings. Since the children will be sharing feedbacks in this period, you can observe and appreciate the whole class by picking aspects from your observation.
Once the children have done the peer assessment, you can work on the teacher assessment.
Strategies to work on Teacher Reflection
While closing the session, urge students to think on how they will apply these learning’s to their everyday life.

Strategies to work on Teacher Reflection
- If you have been conducting the sessions in pairs, you can divide the children amongst yourself and review your observations with each other.
- Since the reflection is about the behavioral aspects of student, you can also substantiate your markings with other subject teacher to understand the growth of some children for whom you may not be sure of the progress.
- As you mark the students on the reflection questions, it will be a good strategy to look back on the growth of the class as a facilitator and map the effectiveness of the strategies you are using with your students.
